How can knitted sweaters be washed without shrinking
The core methods for preventing shrinkage of knitted sweaters are hand washing with cold water, using neutral detergents, and avoiding mechanical force from damaging the fiber structure.
Pre-treatment before washing
1. Cold water pre-soaking : After dusting the sweater, soak it in cold water for 10-15 minutes to soften the fibers and remove the floating dust.
2. Deconstructing detergent : Mix neutral detergent in a ratio of 3:1 (special wool detergent is better), and avoid using laundry powder containing alkaline components
Key points of washing implementation
Technique control
Adding 2% edible vinegar to water can neutralize residual detergent and protect the color of the yarn. Gently press the clothes with your palm instead of rubbing them, and focus on cleaning easily dirty areas such as the collar and cuffs.
2. Temperature management: The water temperature throughout the process should be ≤30℃. High temperatures can damage the wool fiber scales, causing irreversible shrinkage.
Rinsing and dewatering:
1. Vinegar water color fixation: Add a small amount of white vinegar during the final rinse. This can not only neutralize the alkaline residue but also increase the flexibility of the fibers.
Extrusion dewatering
Lay the sweater flat on an absorbent towel, roll it up and press it gently. Do not twist it.
2. When using the dehydrator, it should be covered with a laundry bag and the usage time should not exceed one minute.
